Arriving in Yogyakarta we have been overwhelmed by the traffic. Scooters, cars, coaches. Then we arrived. The lobby boy opened the doors and carried our luggage inside. But wait for the hotel room the view of Yogya or Jogja, however you want to call it, was stunning!

The Amata Vlog

It was a day without plans. We have realized that there are no other guests staying at our hotel. So we decided to enjoy the hotel and its infrastructure to the fullest. A bit of drone flying practice. Jumping and diving into the pool and splashing as high as possible. I mean there were no other guests. So it was kind of like our private hotel. We have stayed at the Amata Borobodur resort (linked down in the description) close to the Borobodur temple

We departed from Zurich to Singapore. Without a doubt the most famous hotel in Singapore is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel but trust me there are so many more great Hotels in this city! we researched for a more affordable one. As we arrived at our maisonette luxury hotel room we fell in love with it.

Is Senggigi Beach in Lombok a perfect spot worth to travel to? Rent a scooter and drove all the way to Senggigi beach and we were surprised when we arrived. Besides two bigger hotels like the Sheraton and the Kila resort, the beach is not overcrowded because of mass tourism.

The Hotel Vlog

At the same day we left Lombok and flew right into Yogyakarta in Indonesia, also called Jogjakarta. Negotiated a fair taxi price and drove to the luxury Amata Borobodur Resort. Its a hotel close to the famous Borobodur buddhist temple. This temple was the main reason why we traveled to this place. But besides following our plans we had some time left to enjoy this beautiful resort. We knew it will be a nice stay but the interior of our room, the restaurant and pool area were really overwhelming. I can highly recommend to visit the Borobodur and stay in this resort.

Is Senggigi Beach in Lombok a perfect spot worth to travel to? Rent a scooter and drove all the way to Senggigi beach and we were surprised when we arrived. Besides two bigger hotels like the Sheraton and the Kila resort, the beach is not overcrowded because of mass tourism. Instead we plenty of space to throw out our towels and enjoy the Indonesian sun. A friendly beach vendor offered us some fresh fruits. we decided to get some pineapple. Right behind the beach bank they built a couple of concrete tables. So if you bring a pick-nick or you'll buy something from a food stand you can comfy sit down and enjoy your lunch with a beautiful beach. Couple of Boats are docked there so you can go on a boat trip if you want to. They also been repairing a boat right there. that was interesting to observe.

All in all we can really recommend a trip to this beach.

The PinkCoco Hotel

It was a bit of a struggle to get to Gili Trawangan but we made it to the Pink Coco Hotel finally. Read about our struggles to get on this Island here. It was not really a surprize but as we arrived we realized that the whole hotel is in Pink. Okay the name already betrays it but to see it in real life was cool. Passports, Check-in, welcome drink, short instruction and we were ready to drop our bags in the hotel room. Guess what, the room all in pink as well. It was on the first floor with a nice balcony with a view on the Pink Coco Hotel pool. First impression... Pink 🙂

How to get to the PinkCoco Hotel?

First of all you need to get to Gili Trawangan which is an Island. This is one of three islands located between Bali and Lombok, Indonesia. On the Islands are no motors allowed so either you get on a coach, walk or you get around with a bicycle. And it can be pretty difficult to ride to the hotel with bags on a bike. So the only options are to walk or get on a coach. It's about 22 minutes to walk from the port to the Pinkcoco Hotel. First we decided to get on a coach but the prices were really high, 100 Indonesian rupiah as i remember. It is affordable compared to other tourist destinations but compared to Indonesia the price is pretty high. So we decided to walk. After the first steps with the luggage, the bad roads, the burning sun on our neck, we decided to pay the price nevertheless.

After trying to negotiate the price we hopped on the coach.

Where to stay?

Of course in the Pinkcoco Hotel, it is not right in the center of Gili Trawangan but they have a restaurant, a popular bar and bicycles for rent. The beach is sandy and in the water a bit rocky but depending on the tide there are some good areas to go on a swim. And of course there is a hotel pool if you prefer to avoid the salt.

What is special about the Pinkcoco Hotel?

Of course it is all pink, the building, the interior, the restaurant, slippers and the towels as well. That somehow a special experience to live couple of days in a pink world. The Pinkcoco hotel has its own bar which is crowded in the evenings. people come to enjoy the sunset because it sets right in front of the bar with a fantastic view on the sea.

The famous waterswing (there are severals on the island) is in the front of the bar and a lot of tourists come just to snap a picture on this swing. when we were enjoying our coconut at the bar there were people standing in line to get such a photo... probably for instagram. 😉

After we landed at the airport in Denpasar, the capital of Bali, we’ve been picked up by a driver of the Conrad Bali Hotel. Arriving at the Conrad Bali resort we were already impressed by the stunning lobby! Everything skyhigh made out of beautiful wood and a view through the lobby area on the sea.

Welcome drink, smiling receptionist, Check in paperwork, dropped our luggage to the lobby boy and then we arrived in our hotel room. Spacious, bold and beautiful. The view from the balcony on the pool area and the sea. nothing more to wish for.
